Chapter 21 · Funerals (Kitab Al-Jana'iz)حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ الْهَمْدَانِيّ حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ بِرُودِسَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الرُّومِ، فَتُوُفِّيَ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا، فَأَمَرَ فَضَالَةُ بِقَبْرِهِ فَسُوِّيَ، ثُمّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِتَسْوِيَتِهَا ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد: رُودِسُ جَزِيرَةٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ.

We were with Fudalah bin Ubaid رضی اللہ عنہ at Rudis in the land of Rome. One of our Companions dies, Fudalah commanded us to dig his grave; it was (dug and) levelled. He then said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم commanding to level them. Abu Dawud said: Rudis is an island, in the sea.
