Chapter 36 · The Chapter on Dressحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَزِّمِ، عَنْأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ ّالنَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ فِي ذُيُولِ النِّسَاءِ: شِبْرًا ، فَقَالَتْ: عَائِشَةُ: إِذًا تَخْرُجَ سُوقُهُنَّ، قَالَ: فَذِرَاعٌ .

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, concerning how long a woman’s hem should hang down: “A hand span.” ‘Aishah said: “This may show her calves.” He said: “Then a forearm’s length.”
