Chapter 17 · The Book of Pilgrimageمَا يُنْدَبُ لِلْمُحْرِمِ وَغَيْرِهِ قَتْلُهُ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ فِي الْحِلِّ وَالْحَرَمِ
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَخْرَمَةُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مِقْسَمٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ، زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: أَرْبَعٌ كُلُّهُنَّ فَاسِقٌ، يُقْتَلْنَ فِي الْحِلِّ وَالْحَرَمِ: الْحِدَأَةُ، وَالْغُرَابُ، وَالْفَأْرَةُ، وَالْكَلْبُ الْعَقُورُ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْقَاسِمِ: أَفَرَأَيْتَ الْحَيَّةَ؟ قَالَ: «تُقْتَلُ بِصُغْرٍ لَهَا».

I heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: Four are the vicious (birds, beasts and reptiles) which should be killed in the state of Ihram or otherwise: kite (and vulture), crow, rat, and the voracious dog. I (one of the narrators, `Ubaidullah bin Miqsam) said to Qasim (the other narrator who heard it from `A'isha): What about the snake? He said: Let it be killed with disgrace.
