Chapter 18 · The Book of Marriageوحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ ذُؤَيْبٍ الْكَعْبِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَجْمَعَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْأَةِ وَعَمَّتِهَا، وَبَيْنَ الْمَرْأَةِ وَخَالَتِهَا»، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: «فَنُرَى خَالَةَ أَبِيهَا، وَعَمَّةَ أَبِيهَا بِتِلْكَ الْمَنْزِلَةِ».

Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) forbade a person to combine in marriage a woman and her father's sister, and a woman and her mother's sister. Ibn Shihab said: So we regarded the paternal aunt of her (wife's) father and the maternal aunt of her (wife's) father at the same level.
