Chapter 36 · The Book Of Jihad And Expeditionsحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، يَقُولُ: «غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً»، قَالَ جَابِرٌ: «لَمْ أَشْهَدْ بَدْرًا، وَلَا أُحُدًا مَنَعَنِي أَبِي، فَلَمَّا قُتِلَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، لَمْ أَتَخَلَّفْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ قَطُّ.

The Arabic text and the translations come from our previous collection: English from hadithapi.com, German and Turkish machine-translated (Gemini) and unreviewed. A new translation from the Arabic with the chain of narration will follow.
I fought in the company of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) nineteen battles. Jabir رضی اللہ عنہ said: I did not participate in the Battle of Badr and the Battle of Uhud. My father prevented me (from participating in these battles as my age was tender). After `Abdullah رضی اللہ عنہ (my father) was killed on the Day of Uhud, I never lagged behind the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and joined every battle (he fought).
