Chapter 49 · Chapter on Supplicationحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، قَال: سَمِعْتُ الرَّبِيعَ بْنَ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كَانَ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ قَالَ: آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَرَوَى الثَّوْرِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ، وَرِوَايَةُ شُعْبَةَ أَصَحُّ، وَفِي الْبَابِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَأَنَسٍ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ.

Ar-Rabi` bin Al-Bara’ bin `Azib reported from, his father: That whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) would return from a trip, he would say: “(We are) Returning, repenting, worshipping, and to our Lord directing the praise (Ā’ibūna tā’būna `ābidūna lirabbinā ḥāmidūn).”
