Chapter 50 · Chapter on Virtuesحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: جَاءَ الْعَاقِبُ، وَالسَّيِّدُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَا: ابْعَثْ مَعَنَا أَمِينًا، فَقَالَ: فَإِنِّي سَأَبْعَثُ مَعَكُمْ أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ، فَأَشْرَفَ لَهَا النَّاسُ، فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ. قَالَ: وَكَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق إِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ صِلَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ مُنْذُ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَأَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينٌ وَأَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ .

Narrated Hudhaifah bin Al-Yaman: that Al-'Aqib and As-Sayyid (two of the leaders of the Christians of Najran) came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Send us your trustworthy one. He said: I shall send with you a trustworthy one who is truly a trustworthy one. So the people desired that, and he sent Abu 'Ubaidah, may Allah be pleased with him.
