Chapter 20 · Prayer at Night (Tahajjud)حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَرْثَدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَزَنِيَّ، قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ فَقُلْتُ أَلاَ أُعْجِبُكَ مِنْ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ يَرْكَعُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الْمَغْرِبِ. فَقَالَ عُقْبَةُ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم. قُلْتُ فَمَا يَمْنَعُكَ الآنَ قَالَ الشُّغْلُ.

I went to `Uqba bin 'Amir Al-Juhani رضی اللہ عنہ and said, "Is it not surprising that Abi Tamim offers two rak`at before the Maghrib prayer?" `Uqba said, "We used to do so in the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." I asked him, "What prevents you from offering it now?" He replied, "Business."

Mersed İbn Abdullah el-Yezânî şöyle dedi: Ukbe İbn Âmir el-Cühenî’nin yanına gittim ve dedim ki: "Ebû Temîm'in, Akşam namazından önce iki rekât namaz kılması seni hayrete düşürmüyor mu?" Ukbe dedi ki: "Biz, bunu Allah Resûlü'nün (ﷺ) zamanında yapardık." Ben sordum: "Peki, şimdi seni engelleyen nedir?" O şöyle cevap verdi: "Yoğunluk (işler)."
