Chapter 24 · Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz)هَلْ تُكَفَّنُ الْمَرْأَةُ فِي إِزَارِ الرَّجُلِ
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ تُوُفِّيَتْ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ لَنَا " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلاَثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ". فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ فَنَزَعَ مِنْ حِقْوِهِ إِزَارَهُ وَقَالَ " أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ ".

Can a woman be shrouded in the waist-sheet of a man?
The daughter of the Prophet (ﷺ) expired, and he said to us, "Wash her three or five times, or more if you see it necessary, and when you finish, notify me." So, (when we finished) we informed him and he unfastened his waist-sheet and told us to shroud her in it.

Umm Atiyya berichtete: Die Tochter des Propheten (ﷺ) verstarb, und er sagte zu uns: „Wascht sie dreimal, oder fünfmal, oder öfter als das, falls ihr dies für angebracht haltet. Und wenn ihr fertig seid, benachrichtigt mich.“ Als wir fertig waren, benachrichtigten wir ihn. Er nahm daraufhin sein Izār (Hüfttuch) von seiner Hüfte ab und sagte: „Lasst es sie umhüllen [als Untergewand].“

Ümmü Atiyye şöyle anlattı: Peygamber'in (ﷺ) kızı vefat etti. Bunun üzerine bize: “Onu üç veya beş defa, yahut uygun görürseniz bundan daha fazla yıkayın. Bitirdiğiniz zaman bana haber verin.” buyurdu. Bitirdiğimizde O’na haber verdik. Bunun üzerine Efendimiz (ﷺ) belindeki izârını (alt örtüsünü) çıkardı ve: “Onu ona sarın/dokundurun.” dedi.
