Chapter 24 · Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz)يُلْقَى شَعَرُ الْمَرْأَةِ خَلْفَهَا
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنَا حَفْصَةُ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَتَانَا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " اغْسِلْنَهَا بِالسِّدْرِ وِتْرًا ثَلاَثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكَ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ". فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ، فَضَفَرْنَا شَعَرَهَا ثَلاَثَةَ قُرُونٍ وَأَلْقَيْنَاهَا خَلْفَهَا.

To make the hair of a (dead) woman fall at her back
One of the daughters of the Prophet (ﷺ) expired and he came to us and said, "Wash her with Sidr (water) for odd number of times, i.e. three, five or more, if you think it necessary, and in the last, put camphor or (some camphor on her), and when you finish, notify me." So when we finished we informed him. He gave his waist-sheet to us (to shroud her). We entwined the hair (of the deceased girl) in three braids and made them fall at her back.

Umm Atiyyah (möge Allah mit ihr zufrieden sein) berichtete: Eine der Töchter des Propheten (ﷺ) starb, woraufhin der Prophet (ﷺ) zu uns kam und sprach: „Wascht sie mit Sidr [Lote/Jujube], und zwar ungerade Male: dreimal, oder fünfmal, oder öfter, falls ihr es für notwendig erachtet. Beim letzten Mal gebt Kamfer hinzu oder etwas Kamfer. Wenn ihr fertig seid, informiert mich.“ Als wir fertig waren, informierten wir ihn. Er warf uns daraufhin sein Taillenkleid (Haqw/Lendentuch) zu [als Leichentuch]. Wir flochten ihr Haar zu drei Zöpfen und ließen sie [die Zöpfe] hinter ihrem Rücken herabfallen.

Ümmü Atiyye (Allah ondan razı olsun) bildirdi: Nebi'nin (ﷺ) kızlarından biri vefat etti. Bunun üzerine Nebi (ﷺ) bize gelerek şöyle buyurdu: “Onu Sidr (ağacı yaprağı içeren su) ile yıkayınız; tek sayıda, yani üç, beş veya daha fazla [defa] – eğer uygun görürseniz. Son yıkamada kafur ya da biraz kafur kullanınız. İşinizi bitirdiğiniz zaman bana haber veriniz.” Bitirdiğimizde ona haber verdik. O da bize bel kuşağını (izarını) verdi [kefen için]. Biz de saçını üç örgü (kakül) halinde örüp arkasına bıraktık.
