Chapter 24 · Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz)اللَّحْدِ وَالشَّقِّ فِي الْقَبْرِ
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ " أَيُّهُمْ أَكْثَرُ أَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ ". فَإِذَا أُشِيرَ لَهُ إِلَى أَحَدِهِمَا قَدَّمَهُ فِي اللَّحْدِ فَقَالَ " أَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَى هَؤُلاَءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ". فَأَمَرَ بِدَفْنِهِمْ بِدِمَائِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُغَسِّلْهُمْ.

The Lahd (a side extension of a grave) and the (straight) cut in the grave
The Prophet (ﷺ) collected every two martyrs of Uhud (in one grave) and then he would ask, "Which of them knew the Qur'an more?" And if one of them was pointed out for him as having more knowledge, he would put him first in the Lahd. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I will be a witness on these on the Day of Resurrection." Then he ordered them to be buried with their blood on their bodies and he did not have them washed.

Jabir ibn Abdullah (möge Allah mit ihm zufrieden sein) berichtete: Der Prophet (ﷺ) pflegte zwei Märtyrer von Uhud [in einem Grab] zusammenzulegen und fragte dann: „Welcher von ihnen hatte mehr vom Qur’an gelernt/gewusst?“ Wenn ihm dann auf einen von ihnen hingewiesen wurde [als den, der mehr wusste], legte er ihn zuerst in die Grabnische (Lahd). Dann sprach er: „Ich bin ihr Zeuge am Tage der Auferstehung.“ Daraufhin befahl er, sie mit ihrem Blut zu begraben, und er ließ sie nicht waschen.

Cabir ibn Abdullah (Allah ondan razı olsun) şöyle buyurdu: Peygamber (ﷺ) Uhud şehitlerinden iki kişiyi [bir kabre] bir araya getirir, sonra şöyle derdi: “Hangisi Kur’an’ı daha çok ezberlemişti/biliyordu?” Kendisine birine işaret edildiğinde [o daha çok biliyor diye], onu lahdine (mezardaki oyuğa) önce koyardı. Sonra şöyle buyurdu: “Ben Kıyamet Günü bunlara şahidim.” Bunun üzerine, onların kanlarıyla defnedilmelerini emretti ve onları yıkatmadı.
