Reciting the Qur'an after hadath (ritual impurity) and the like

Translation

Ibn Abbas reported that he spent a night at the house of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ – she was his maternal aunt. (He said:) I lay down across the width of the cushion, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife lay down along its length. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until, at midnight – or a little before or a little after it – the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up. He sat up, wiping the sleep from his face with his hand. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al Imran. Then he got up, went to a hanging old waterskin and performed ablution (wudu) from it, and he did his ablution thoroughly. Then he stood up to pray. Ibn Abbas said: So I got up and did the same as he had done. Then I went and stood at his side. He placed his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear, twisting it. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs. Then he prayed witr. Then he lay down until the caller to prayer came to him. Then he got up and prayed two light rak'ahs. Then he went out and prayed the dawn prayer.

Translator’s note: The last ten verses of Surah Al Imran: Qur'an 3:191–200; they are often counted from verse 190. Witr: the concluding prayer with an odd number of rak'ahs.

Deutsch

Dann betete er zwei Rak'at, dann zwei Rak'at, dann zwei Rak'at, dann zwei Rak'at, dann zwei Rak'at, dann zwei Rak'at.

Sonra Âl-i İmrân sûresinin son on âyetini okudu.

Translator’s note: Âl-i İmrân sûresinin son on âyeti: Kur'ân 3:191–200; çoğunlukla 190. âyetten itibaren sayılır. Vitir: tek sayıda rekâtla kılınan, gece namazını kapatan namaz.
