Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
Whether the graves of the polytheists of the pre-Islamic era may be dug up and mosques built in their place

Translation
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah and stayed in the upper part of Madinah, among a tribe called the Banu Amr ibn Awf. The Prophet ﷺ stayed among them for fourteen nights. Then he sent for the Banu an-Najjar, and they came with their swords hung at their sides. It is as if I were looking at the Prophet ﷺ on his mount, with Abu Bakr riding behind him and the company of the Banu an-Najjar around him, until he dismounted in the courtyard of Abu Ayyub. He liked to pray wherever the prayer overtook him, and he would pray in the sheepfolds. And he ordered the building of the mosque. He sent for a company of the Banu an-Najjar and said, “O Banu an-Najjar, name me the price of this walled garden of yours.” They said, “No, by Allah, we seek its price only from Allah.” Anas said: In it there was what I tell you: graves of the polytheists, ruins and palm trees. The Prophet ﷺ ordered that the graves of the polytheists be dug up, then the ruins levelled and the palm trees cut down. They lined up the palm trunks on the qiblah side of the mosque and made its two doorposts of stone. They began carrying the rocks while reciting verses, and the Prophet ﷺ was with them, saying, “O Allah, there is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirun.”

Enes b. Mâlik (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Nebî ﷺ Medine'ye geldi ve Medine'nin yukarı kısmında, Amr b. Avf oğulları denilen bir kabilenin yanına indi. Nebî ﷺ onların arasında on dört gece kaldı. Sanki şu an Nebî'ye ﷺ bakıyorum: bineğinin üzerinde, Ebû Bekir (r.a.) onun terkisinde, Neccâroğullarından bir topluluk da etrafında; nihayet Ebû Eyyûb'un (r.a.) avlusuna indi.
