Translation
Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet ﷺ prayed seven and eight (rak'ahs) in Madinah: the Zuhr and the Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and the Isha prayers. Ayyub said, “Perhaps (that was) on a rainy night?” He said, “Perhaps.”
Translator’s note: That is, he combined two prayers each time: eight rak'ahs for the Zuhr and Asr prayers, seven for the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Ayyub put his question to one of the narrators.
