Chapter 16 · Invoking Allah for Rain (Istisqaa)رَفْعِ النَّاسِ أَيْدِيَهُمْ مَعَ الإِمَامِ فِي الاِسْتِسْقَاءِ
قَالَ أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلاَلٍ، قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَدْوِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، هَلَكَتِ الْمَاشِيَةُ هَلَكَ الْعِيَالُ هَلَكَ النَّاسُ. فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَدَيْهِ يَدْعُو، وَرَفَعَ النَّاسُ أَيْدِيَهُمْ مَعَهُ يَدْعُونَ، قَالَ فَمَا خَرَجْنَا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى مُطِرْنَا، فَمَا زِلْنَا نُمْطَرُ حَتَّى كَانَتِ الْجُمُعَةُ الأُخْرَى، فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، بَشِقَ الْمُسَافِرُ، وَمُنِعَ الطَّرِيقُ.

While offering the Istisqa' prayer, people should raise hands along with the Imam
A bedouin came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on a Friday and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! The livestock, the offspring, and the people have perished." So, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) raised both his hands invoking Allah (for rain) and the people too raised their hands with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) invoking Allah (for rain). We had not left the mosque when it started raining. It rained till the next Friday when the same man came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger! The travelers are compelled to postpone their journeys (because of excessive rain) and the roads are overflowed."

Anas ibn Malik berichtete: Ein Beduine aus den Wüstenbewohnern kam am Freitag zum Gesandten Allahs (ﷺ) und sagte: „O Gesandter Allahs, das Vieh ist zugrunde gegangen, die Familien sind zugrunde gegangen, die Menschen sind zugrunde gegangen.“ Daraufhin hob der Gesandte Allahs (ﷺ) seine Hände zum Bittgebet, und die Menschen hoben ebenfalls ihre Hände mit ihm zum Bittgebet. [Anas] sagte: Wir hatten die Moschee noch nicht verlassen, da wurden wir bereits vom Regen getroffen. Wir wurden unaufhörlich beregnet, bis der nächste Freitag kam. Da kam derselbe Mann zum Propheten Allahs (ﷺ) und sagte: „O Gesandter Allahs, der Reisende leidet Not, und der Weg ist unterbrochen.“

Enes ibn Malik bildirdi: Bedevilerden bir adam Cuma günü Allah Resûlü'ne (ﷺ) geldi ve şöyle dedi: “Ey Allah'ın Resûlü! Hayvanlar helak oldu, aileler helak oldu, insanlar helak oldu.” Bunun üzerine Allah Resûlü (ﷺ) dua ederek ellerini kaldırdı; insanlar da onunla birlikte ellerini kaldırıp dua ettiler. [Enes] dedi ki: Biz mescitten çıkmadan yağmura tutulduk. Diğer Cuma gününe kadar sürekli yağmur yağmaya devam etti. Bunun üzerine adam tekrar Allah'ın Nebisi'ne (ﷺ) geldi ve dedi ki: “Ey Allah'ın Resûlü! Yolcu sıkıntıya düştü ve yol ulaşıma kapandı (veya: kesildi).”
