Chapter 19 · Shortening the Prayers (At-Taqseer)وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ قَالَ سَالِمٌ كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يُصَلِّي عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَهْوَ مُسَافِرٌ، مَا يُبَالِي حَيْثُ مَا كَانَ وَجْهُهُ. قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُسَبِّحُ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ قِبَلَ أَىِّ وَجْهٍ تَوَجَّهَ، وَيُوتِرُ عَلَيْهَا، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لاَ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ.

At night `Abdullah bin `Umar رضی اللہ عنہما used to offer the prayer on the back of his animal during the journey and never cared about the direction he faced. Ibn `Umar رضی اللہ عنہما said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to offer the optional prayer on the back of his Mount facing any direction and also used to pray the witr on it but never offered the compulsory prayer on it."

Salim berichtete, dass Abdullah [ibn Umar] während der Reise nachts auf seinem Reittier betete, ohne sich darum zu kümmern, in welche Richtung sein Gesicht zeigte. Ibn Umar sagte weiter: Der Gesandte Allahs (ﷺ) pflegte auf seinem Reittier die freiwilligen Gebete (Tasbih) zu verrichten, egal in welche Richtung es sich wandte, und auch das Witr-Gebet darauf zu beten; allerdings verrichtete er darauf nicht die vorgeschriebenen (Pflicht-)Gebete.

Salim bildirdiğine göre, Abdullah İbn Ömer yolculuk esnasında geceleyin bineği üzerinde namaz kılar ve yüzünün baktığı yönü önemsemezdi. İbn Ömer dedi ki: Allah Resulü (ﷺ) de binek üzerinde, hangi yöne dönerse dönsün, nafile namazları (Tesbih) kılar ve vitir namazını da onun üzerinde kılardı. Yalnızca farz (Mektube) namazları binek üzerinde eda etmezdi.
