Chapter 19 · Shortening the Prayers (At-Taqseer)صَلاَةِ التَّطَوُّعِ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ، قَالَ اسْتَقْبَلْنَا أَنَسًا حِينَ قَدِمَ مِنَ الشَّأْمِ، فَلَقِينَاهُ بِعَيْنِ التَّمْرِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي عَلَى حِمَارٍ وَوَجْهُهُ مِنْ ذَا الْجَانِبِ، يَعْنِي عَنْ يَسَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ. فَقُلْتُ رَأَيْتُكَ تُصَلِّي لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ. فَقَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَعَلَهُ لَمْ أَفْعَلْهُ. رَوَاهُ ابْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم.

To offer the Nawafil while riding a donkey
We went to receive Anas bin Malik رضی اللہ عنہ when he returned from Sham and met him at a place called 'Ainat- Tamr. I saw him praying riding the donkey, with his face to this direction, i.e. to the left of the Qibla. I said to him, "I have seen you offering the prayer in a direction other than that of the Qibla." He replied, "If I had not seen Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) doing it, I would not have done it." Ibn-e- Tahman reported it from Hajjaj, he from Anas bin sireen, he from Hadrat Anas رضی اللہ عنہ and he from the prophet (ﷺ).

Anas ibn Sirin berichtete: Als wir Anas [ibn Malik] bei seiner Rückkehr aus der Scham-Region in 'Ain at-Tamr in Empfang nahmen, sah ich ihn auf einem Esel reitend beten. Sein Gesicht war in jene Richtung gewandt – nämlich links von der Qibla. Ich sagte [zu ihm]: „Ich sah dich beten, obwohl du nicht zur Qibla gewandt warst.“ Er antwortete: „Hätte ich den Gesandten Allahs (ﷺ) dies nicht tun sehen, hätte ich es nicht getan.“

Anas ibn Sirin şöyle anlattı: Şam’dan geldiği zaman Enes’i karşılamak için yola çıktık ve onunla ‘Ayn at-Tamr’da karşılaştık. Onu bir eşek üzerinde namaz kılarken gördüm. Yüzü o tarafa, yani Kıble’nin soluna dönüktü. Ben [ona] şöyle dedim: “Seni Kıble’den başka bir yöne doğru namaz kılarken gördüm.” O cevap verdi: “Eğer ben bunu Allah Resûlü’nün (ﷺ) yaptığını görmeseydim, ben de yapmazdım.”
