Chapter 20 · Prayer at Night (Tahajjud)حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقْرَأُ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا، حَتَّى إِذَا كَبِرَ قَرَأَ جَالِسًا، فَإِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السُّورَةِ ثَلاَثُونَ أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَهُنَّ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ.

I did not see the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting (the Qur'an) in the night prayer while sitting except when he became old; when he used to recite while sitting, and when thirty or forty verses remained from the Sura, he would get up and recite them and then bow.

Aischa (radiyallahu anha) berichtete: „Ich sah den Propheten (ﷺ) nie, wie er im Nachtgebet sitzend rezitierte, außer als er älter wurde. Wenn er sitzend rezitierte, und ihm von der Sura noch dreißig oder vierzig Verse verblieben waren, stand er auf, rezitierte diese [Verse] und verneigte sich anschließend.“

Aişe (radiyallahu anha) şöyle dedi: “Nebi'yi (ﷺ) yaşlanana kadar, gece namazının hiçbir bölümünde oturarak Kur’an okurken görmedim. Yaşlanınca oturarak okurdu. Sûrenin bitmesine otuz veya kırk âyet kaldığında ayağa kalkar, onları okur ve sonra rükûya giderdi.”
