Chapter 22 · Actions while Prayingاَ يَرُدُّ السَّلاَمَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كُنْتُ أُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَيَرُدُّ عَلَىَّ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْنَا سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَىَّ وَقَالَ " إِنَّ فِي الصَّلاَةِ شُغْلاً ".

One should not return greetings during the Salat
I used to greet the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was in prayer and he would return my greeting, but when we returned (from Ethiopia) I greeted the Prophet (while he was praying) but he did not return the greeting, and (after finishing the prayer) he said, "In the prayer one is occupied (with a more serious matter)."

Abdullah [Ibn Mas'ud] berichtete: Ich pflegte den Propheten (ﷺ) zu grüßen, während er sich im Gebet befand, und er pflegte meinen Gruß zu erwidern. Doch als wir [von der Reise] zurückkamen, grüßte ich ihn, und er erwiderte meinen Gruß nicht. Daraufhin sprach er: „Wahrlich, im Gebet gibt es eine [ausschließliche] Beschäftigung [mit Gott].“

Abdullah [İbn Mes’ud] rivayet etti: Ben, Nebi'ye (ﷺ) namazda iken selam verirdim ve o da benim selamımı yanıtlardı. Ancak biz döndüğümüzde ona selam verdim fakat selamımı geri çevirmedi. Bunun üzerine şöyle buyurdu: “Şüphesiz namazda bir meşguliyet (Allah’a yönelme) vardır.”
