الْغُسْلِ وَالْوُضُوءِ فِي الْمِخْضَبِ وَالْقَدَحِ وَالْخَشَبِ وَالْحِجَارَةِ

The ritual bath (ghusl) and ablution in a basin, a bowl, (vessels of) wood and stone

حَضَرَتِ الصَّلاَةُ، فَقَامَ مَنْ كَانَ قَرِيبَ الدَّارِ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ، وَبَقِيَ قَوْمٌ، فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِخْضَبٍ مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، فَصَغُرَ الْمِخْضَبُ أَنْ يَبْسُطَ فِيهِ كَفَّهُ، فَتَوَضَّأَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ. قُلْنَا كَمْ كُنْتُمْ قَالَ ثَمَانِينَ وَزِيَادَةً.

Translation

Anas ibn Malik reported: The (time for) prayer came, and those whose homes were near went to their families, while some people remained. A stone basin containing water was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the basin was too small for him to spread out his hand in it, and all the people performed ablution (wudu). We said, “How many were you?” He said, “Eighty and more.”
