Sahih

What women are commanded when they get their menses

Translation

Aishah reported: We went out with nothing in mind but the Hajj. When we were at Sarif, I got my menses. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to me while I was weeping. He said, “What is the matter with you? Have you got your menses?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “This is a matter that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. So do everything the pilgrim does, except that you do not circumambulate the House.” She said: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives.

Translator’s note: Sarif: a place near Makkah. The House: the Kaaba. The Arabic word for “getting one's menses” is related to the word for postnatal bleeding; the chapter heading refers to this.

Deutsch

Er sagte: „Was hast du?

Âişe (r.a.) “Evet” dedim. Şöyle buyurdu: “Bu, Allah'ın Âdem kızlarına yazdığı bir şeydir. Beyt'i tavaf etmemen dışında, hacının yaptığı her şeyi yap.” Âişe dedi ki: Resûlullah ﷺ hanımları adına sığır kurban etti.

Translator’s note: Serif: Mekke yakınlarında bir yer. Beyt: Kâbe. Arapçada “hayız olmak” için kullanılan kelime, lohusalık (nifas) kelimesiyle aynı köktendir; bab başlığı buna işaret eder.
