Chapter 6 · Menstrual Periods
Sahih

A menstruating woman washing and combing her husband's head

Translation

Urwah ibn az-Zubayr reported that he was asked, “May a menstruating woman serve me, or may a woman come near me while she is in a state of janabah?” Urwah said, “All of that is easy for me, and each of them serves me, and there is no harm in that for anyone. Aishah told me that she used to comb – meaning – the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while she was menstruating, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was at that time in seclusion (i'tikaf) in the mosque. He would bring his head close to her while she was in her room, and she would comb it while she was menstruating.”

Translator’s note: “Meaning” (literally “she means”) is an insertion by a narrator. I'tikaf: staying in the mosque for devotion.

Deutsch
