Chapter 7 · Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum)
Sahih

Translation

Aishah reported: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys, until, when we were at al-Bayda' – or at Dhat al-Jaysh – a necklace of mine broke. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed to search for it, and the people stayed with him, and they were not at any water. The people came to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and said, “Do you not see what Aishah has done? She has kept the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people here, and they are not at any water and have no water with them.” So Abu Bakr came, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had laid his head on my thigh and had fallen asleep, and he said, “You have held back the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people, and they are not at any water and have no water with them.” Aishah said: Abu Bakr reproached me and said whatever Allah willed him to say, and he began to poke me in my side with his hand. Nothing stopped me from moving except that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was lying on my thigh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up in the morning without water. Then Allah revealed the verse of dry ablution (tayammum), and they performed dry ablution. Usayd ibn al-Hudayr said, “This is not the first of your blessings, O family of Abu Bakr.” She said: Then we roused the camel I had been riding, and we found the necklace under it.

Translator’s note: Qur'an 5:6 (cf. 4:43). Al-Bayda' and Dhat al-Jaysh are places between Madinah and Makkah.

Translator’s note: Koran 5:6 (vgl. 4:43). Al-Baida' und Dhat al-Dschaisch sind Orte zwischen Medina und Mekka.

Türkçe

Âişe (r.a.) Hudayr (r.a.): “Ey Ebû Bekir ailesi! Bu sizin ilk bereketiniz değildir” dedi. Âişe dedi ki: Sonra üzerinde bulunduğum deveyi kaldırdık, gerdanlığı onun altında bulduk.

Translator’s note: Kur'ân 5:6 (krş. 4:43).
