Chapter 7 · Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum)
If one in a state of janabah fears illness or death for himself, or fears thirst, he performs dry ablution (tayammum)

Translation
Shaqiq reported: I was with Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud) and Abu Musa, and Abu Musa said to him, “What do you think, O Abu Abd ar-Rahman: if someone enters a state of janabah and does not find water, what should he do?” Abdullah said, “He does not pray until he finds water.” Abu Musa said, “Then what do you do with the words of Ammar, when the Prophet ﷺ said to him, ‘It would have been enough for you’?” He said, “Did you not see that Umar was not satisfied with that?” Abu Musa said, “Leave aside the words of Ammar; what do you do with this verse?” Abdullah did not know what to say, and he said, “If we were to grant them a concession in this, it would soon come to pass that when the water felt cold to one of them, he would leave it and perform dry ablution (tayammum).” I (al-A'mash) said to Shaqiq, “So Abdullah disliked it only for this reason?” He said, “Yes.”
Translator’s note: The verse: Qur'an 5:6 (cf. 4:43). The last question is asked by al-A'mash, the student of Shaqiq.

Translator’s note: Der Vers: Koran 5:6 (vgl. 4:43). Die letzte Frage stellt al-A'masch, der Schüler Schaqiqs.

Şakîk şöyle rivayet etti: Abdullah b. Mes'ûd (r.a.) ile Ebû Mûsâ'nın (r.a.) yanındaydım. Ebû Mûsâ: “Peki, Nebî ﷺ Ammâr'a (r.a.) ‘Sana yeterdi’ dediği hâlde Ammâr'ın sözü hakkında ne yaparsın?” dedi. Abdullah: “Ömer'in (r.a.) bununla yetinmediğini görmedin mi?” dedi. Ebû Mûsâ: “Ammâr'ın sözünü bırak; şu âyet hakkında ne yaparsın?” dedi. Abdullah ne diyeceğini bilemedi ve: “Eğer bu konuda onlara ruhsat versek, onlardan birine su soğuk geldiğinde onu bırakıp teyemmüm etmesi yakındır” dedi. Ben (A'meş) Şakîk'e: “Demek ki Abdullah bunu sadece bunun için hoş görmedi?” dedim. O: “Evet” dedi.
Translator’s note: Âyet: Kur'ân 5:6 (krş. 4:43). Son soruyu Şakîk'in talebesi A'meş sormaktadır.
