Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
Sahih

The dislike of nakedness in prayer and elsewhere

Translation

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was carrying stones for the Kaaba with them while wearing his waist-wrapper, and that his uncle al-Abbas said to him, “O son of my brother, if only you would untie your waist-wrapper and put it on your shoulders beneath the stones!” He said: So he untied it and put it on his shoulders, and he fell down unconscious. After that he ﷺ was never again seen naked.

Translator’s note: This happened before the prophethood, when the Quraysh were rebuilding the Kaaba.

Deutsch
