The small door and the passage in the mosque

Translation

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon and said, “Allah has given a servant the choice between this world and what is with Him, and he chose what is with Allah.” Abu Bakr wept, and I said to myself, “What makes this old man weep, if Allah has given a servant the choice between this world and what is with Him, and he chose what is with Allah?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the servant, and Abu Bakr was the most knowledgeable of us. He said, “O Abu Bakr, do not weep! The person who has done me the most favour with his companionship and his wealth is Abu Bakr. If I were to take an intimate friend from my community, I would take Abu Bakr; but (there is) the brotherhood of Islam and its affection. Let no door remain in the mosque that is not closed, except the door of Abu Bakr.”

Translator’s note: Intimate friend (khalil): the closest friend, whose love fills the heart completely.

Deutsch

Ebû Saîd el-Hudrî (r.a.) Bunun üzerine Ebû Bekir (r.a.) ağladı. Eğer ümmetimden bir can dostu edinecek olsaydım Ebû Bekir'i edinirdim; fakat İslâm kardeşliği ve onun sevgisi (vardır). Mescidde Ebû Bekir'in kapısı dışında kapatılmadık hiçbir kapı kalmasın.”

Translator’s note: Can dostu (halil): sevgisi kalbi tamamen kaplayan en yakın dost.
