Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
The small door and the passage in the mosque

Translation
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out during the illness in which he died, with his head bound with a piece of cloth. He sat on the pulpit, praised Allah and extolled Him, and then said, “There is no one among the people who has done me more favour with his person and his wealth than Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah. If I were to take an intimate friend from among the people, I would take Abu Bakr as an intimate friend, but the friendship of Islam is better. Close off for me every small door in this mosque except the small door of Abu Bakr.”
Translator’s note: Intimate friend (khalil): the closest friend, whose love fills the heart completely.

İbn Abbâs (r.a.) Eğer insanlardan bir can dostu edinecek olsaydım Ebû Bekir'i can dostu edinirdim; fakat İslâm dostluğu daha üstündür. Bu mesciddeki Ebû Bekir'in küçük kapısı dışında bütün küçük kapıları benim için kapatın.”
Translator’s note: Can dostu (halil): sevgisi kalbi tamamen kaplayan en yakın dost.
