Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
A mosque on the road, provided it causes no harm to people

Translation
Aishah reported: Ever since I could understand, I never knew my parents except as following the religion. Not a day passed us without the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming to us at both ends of the day, morning and evening. Then a thought occurred to Abu Bakr, and he built a mosque in the courtyard in front of his house. He would pray in it and recite the Qur'an, and the women of the polytheists and their sons would stand by him, marvelling at him and looking at him. Abu Bakr was a man who wept much; he could not control his eyes when he recited the Qur'an. That alarmed the nobles of Quraysh among the polytheists.
Translator’s note: This took place in Makkah before the emigration (hijrah).

Âişe (r.a.)
