Chapter 9 · Times of the Prayers
The time of the Asr prayer

Translation
Abu al-Minhal reported: My father and I entered upon Abu Barzah al-Aslami. My father asked him, “How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray the obligatory prayers?” He said, “He used to pray the midday prayer, which you call the first, when the sun declined (from the meridian). He would pray the Asr prayer, and afterwards one of us would return to his dwelling at the farthest end of Madinah while the sun was still bright – and I have forgotten what he said about the Maghrib prayer. He liked to delay the Isha prayer, which you call al-'atamah, and he disliked sleeping before it and talking after it. He would turn away from the morning prayer when a man could recognize the person sitting next to him, and he would recite sixty to a hundred (verses).”
Translator’s note: The interjection “and I have forgotten …” is from Abu al-Minhal.

Ebü'l-Minhâl şöyle rivayet etti: Babamla birlikte Ebû Berze el-Eslemî'nin (r.a.) yanına girdik.
