Chapter 10 · Call to Prayers (Adhaan)
Sahih

When the iqamah for the prayer is called, there is no prayer except the obligatory one

Translation

Abdullah ibn Buhaynah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man praying two rak'ahs when the iqamah for the prayer had already been called. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished, the people gathered around him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “The dawn prayer (with) four (rak'ahs)? The dawn prayer (with) four?”

Translator’s note: A reproachful exclamation: whoever prays two rak'ahs after the iqamah in effect makes the dawn prayer four.

Other translations

Deutsch

Abdullah b. Büheyne (r.a.), Resûlullah'ın ﷺ, kamet getirilmişken iki rekât namaz kılan bir adam gördüğünü rivayet etti. Resûlullah ﷺ namazı bitirince insanlar onun etrafını sardı. Resûlullah ﷺ ona: “Sabah namazı dört (rekât) mı? Sabah namazı dört mü?” buyurdu.

Translator’s note: Kınama ifadesidir: Kametten sonra iki rekât kılan, sabah namazını sanki dört rekât yapmış olur.
