What has been narrated about washing off urine

Translation

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet ﷺ passed by two graves and said, “These two are indeed being punished, and they are not being punished for something major. As for one of them, he did not guard himself against urine, and as for the other, he went about spreading tales.” Then he took a fresh palm stalk, split it into two halves and planted one in each grave. They said, “O Messenger of Allah, why did you do this?” He said, “Perhaps it will be lightened for them as long as they have not dried out.”

Translator’s note: “Not for something major”: according to the commentators, for nothing that would have been hard for them to avoid; yet with Allah it is grave.

Other translations

Deutsch

İbn Abbâs (r.a.)
