Chapter 4 · Ablutions (Wudu')
It is among the major sins not to guard oneself against one's urine

Translation
Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet ﷺ passed by one of the walled gardens of Madinah or Makkah and heard the voices of two people being punished in their graves. The Prophet ﷺ said, “They are being punished, and they are not being punished for something major.” Then he said, “Yes indeed! One of them did not guard himself against his urine, and the other went about spreading tales.” Then he called for a palm stalk, broke it into two pieces and placed a piece on each of the two graves. It was said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, why did you do this?” He said, “Perhaps it will be lightened for them as long as they have not dried out” – or: “until they dry out.”
Translator’s note: “Not for something major”: according to the commentators, for nothing that would have been hard for them to avoid; yet with Allah it is grave. “Or” marks a narrator's uncertainty about the wording.

İbn Abbâs (r.a.)
