Chapter 7 · Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum)التَّيَمُّمِ فِي الْحَضَرِ، إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدِ الْمَاءَ، وَخَافَ فَوْتَ الصَّلاَةِ
Dry ablution (tayammum) while resident, if one finds no water and fears missing the prayer
أَقْبَلْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَسَارٍ، مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي جُهَيْمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الصِّمَّةِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ فَقَالَ أَبُو الْجُهَيْمِ أَقْبَلَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ نَحْوِ بِئْرِ جَمَلٍ، فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْجِدَارِ، فَمَسَحَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَيَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمَ.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرًا، مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
Translation
Umayr, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, reported: Abdullah ibn Yasar, the freed slave of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and I went until we entered upon Abu al-Juhaym ibn al-Harith ibn as-Simmah al-Ansari. Abu al-Juhaym said: The Prophet ﷺ came from the direction of Bi'r Jamal. A man met him and greeted him, but the Prophet ﷺ did not return (the greeting) until he turned to the wall and wiped his face and his hands. Then he returned his greeting.
Translator’s note: Bi'r Jamal: a well near Madinah. Wiping the face and hands at the wall is dry ablution (tayammum).

Umair, der Freigelassene von Ibn Abbas, berichtete: Ich und Abdullah ibn Yasar, der Freigelassene Maimunas, der Frau des Propheten ﷺ, gingen los, bis wir bei Abu l-Dschuhaim ibn al-Harith ibn as-Simma al-Ansari eintraten. Da sagte Abu l-Dschuhaim: Der Prophet ﷺ kam aus der Richtung von Bi'r Dschamal. Da begegnete ihm ein Mann und grüßte ihn, doch der Prophet ﷺ erwiderte (den Gruß) nicht, bis er sich der Mauer zuwandte und über sein Gesicht und seine Hände strich. Dann erwiderte er ihm den Gruß.
Translator’s note: Bi'r Dschamal: ein Brunnen bei Medina. Das Streichen über Gesicht und Hände an der Mauer ist die Trockenreinigung (Tayammum).

İbn Abbâs'ın (r.a.) azatlısı Umeyr şöyle rivayet etti: Ben ve Nebî'nin ﷺ hanımı Meymûne'nin (r.a.) azatlısı Abdullah b. Yesâr gittik, sonunda Ebü'l-Cühaym b. Hâris b. Sımme el-Ensârî'nin (r.a.) yanına girdik. Ebü'l-Cühaym şöyle dedi: Nebî ﷺ Bi'ru Cemel tarafından geliyordu. Bir adam ona rastlayıp selâm verdi. Nebî ﷺ duvara yönelip yüzünü ve ellerini meshedinceye kadar onun selâmını almadı. Sonra selâmını aldı.
