Prayer without an upper wrap (rida')

Translation

Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir reported: I entered upon Jabir ibn Abdullah while he was praying in a garment wrapped around himself, and his upper wrap was laid aside. When he had finished, we said, “O Abu Abdullah, you pray while your upper wrap is laid aside?” He said, “Yes, I wanted the ignorant like you to see me. I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying like this.”

Translator’s note: Abu Abdullah is Jabir's kunyah. Upper wrap (rida'): the cloth thrown over the upper body.
