Sahih

Praying on roofs, on the pulpit and on wood

Translation

Abu Hazim reported: They asked Sahl ibn Sa'd what the pulpit was made of. He said, “There is no one left among the people who knows more about it than I. It is made of tamarisk wood from al-Ghabah. So-and-so, the freed slave of so-and-so (a woman), made it for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood on it when it had been made and set in place. He faced the qiblah and said the takbir, and the people stood behind him. He recited and bowed, and the people bowed behind him. Then he raised his head, then stepped backwards and prostrated on the ground. Then he returned to the pulpit, then he recited, then he bowed, then he raised his head, then he stepped backwards until he prostrated on the ground. That is how it was.”

Translator’s note: Al-Ghabah is a wooded area near Madinah.

Sa'd'a (r.a.) minberin neyden olduğunu sordular.
