Chapter 9 · Times of the Prayers
Sahih

{مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَلاَ تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ}

“Turning to Him in repentance, and fear Him, establish the prayer and do not be among the polytheists.”

Translation

Ibn Abbas reported: The delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “We are from this tribe of Rabi'ah, and we cannot reach you except in the sacred month. So command us with something that we may take from you and to which we may call those we left behind.” He said, “I command you four (things) and forbid you four: faith (iman) in Allah – then he explained it to them: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayer, giving Zakat, and that you hand over to me one fifth of what you take as spoils. And I forbid gourd vessels, green earthenware jars, tar-coated vessels and hollowed palm stumps.”

Translator’s note: The vessels named (dubba', hantam, muqayyar, naqir) cause drinks to ferment quickly. Rabi'ah: an Arab tribal confederation.

Rabi'a: ein arabischer Stammesverband.

Türkçe

İbn Abbâs (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Abdülkays heyeti Resûlullah'a ﷺ geldi ve şöyle dediler: “Biz Rebîa'nın şu kabilesindeniz.
