Chapter 9 · Times of the Prayers
The call to prayer after the time has passed

Translation
Abu Qatadah reported: We travelled with the Prophet ﷺ one night, and some of the people said, “Would that you halted with us to rest, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “I fear that you will sleep through the prayer.” Bilal said, “I will wake you.” So they lay down, and Bilal leaned his back against his mount, but his eyes overcame him and he fell asleep. The Prophet ﷺ woke up when the edge of the sun had (already) risen, and said, “O Bilal, where is what you said?” He said, “Never has a sleep like this been cast upon me.” He said, “Allah took your souls when He willed and returned them to you when He willed. O Bilal, get up and call the people to the prayer.” Then he performed ablution (wudu), and when the sun had risen high and become bright, he stood up and prayed.
Translator’s note: The request refers to halting to rest at the end of the night (ta'ris).

Ebû Katâde (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Bir gece Nebî ﷺ ile birlikte yol alıyorduk. Topluluktan bazıları: “Ey Allah'ın Resûlü, bizimle birlikte bir mola verseydin!” dediler. “Namazı uyuyup kaçırmanızdan korkarım” buyurdu. Bilâl (r.a.): “Ben sizi uyandırırım” dedi.
