Chapter 10 · Call to Prayers (Adhaan)
Whoever complains about his imam when he prolongs (the prayer)

Translation
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: A man came with two water-carrying camels when night had already fallen, and found Mu'adh praying. He left his camel and went over to Mu'adh. He (Mu'adh) recited Surat al-Baqarah or an-Nisa'. The man went away, and it reached him that Mu'adh had spoken ill of him. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and complained to him about Mu'adh. The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Mu'adh, are you a troublemaker?” – or, “one who causes trouble?” – three times. “If only you had prayed with ‘Glorify the name of your Lord’, ‘By the sun and its morning brightness’ and ‘By the night when it covers’! For behind you pray the old, the weak and the one who has some need.” I think this is (still) in the hadith.
Translator’s note: These are surahs 87, 91 and 92. “Troublemaker” means putting people under strain by an overlong prayer and driving them away from it. The last sentence is from a later narrator who thinks the final sentence belongs to the hadith.

Abdullah (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Gece karanlığı çökmüşken bir adam iki su devesiyle geldi ve Muâz'ı namaz kılarken buldu. Devesini bırakıp Muâz'a doğru yöneldi.
