Chapter 3 · Knowledge
Sahih

Wishing for the like of others' knowledge and wisdom

Translation

Ibn Mas'ud reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “There is no envy except in two (cases): a man to whom Allah has given wealth and who has been enabled to spend it away for what is right, and a man to whom Allah has given wisdom, by which he judges and which he teaches.”

Translator’s note: Meant is the wish to have the like, without begrudging it to the other.

Deutsch

İbn Mes'ûd (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Nebî ﷺ şöyle buyurdu: “Ancak iki kişiye haset edilir: Allah'ın kendisine mal verdiği ve onu hak yolunda harcayıp tüketmeye muvaffak kıldığı kişi ile Allah'ın kendisine hikmet verdiği, onunla hükmeden ve onu öğreten kişi.”

Translator’s note: Burada haset, başkasının nimetinin yok olmasını istemeden benzerini dilemek (gıpta) anlamındadır.
