Chapter 4 · Ablutions (Wudu')
Sahih

Ablution from a vessel (tawr)

Translation

Yahya ibn Umarah al-Mazini reported: My uncle used to perform ablution (wudu) frequently. He said to Abdullah ibn Zayd, “Tell me how you saw the Prophet ﷺ perform ablution.” He called for a vessel (tawr) of water, tipped it over his hands and washed them three times. Then he put his hand into the vessel, rinsed his mouth and blew the water out of his nose, three times from a single handful. Then he put his hand in, scooped with it and washed his face three times. Then he washed his hands up to the elbows, twice each. Then he took water with his hand and wiped his head, moving his hands backwards and forwards. Then he washed his feet and said, “This is how I saw the Prophet ﷺ perform ablution.”

Translator’s note: The uncle is Amr ibn Abi Hasan.
