مَنْ أَفَاضَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلاَثًا

One who pours (water) over his head three times

قَالَ لِي جَابِرٌ أَتَانِي ابْنُ عَمِّكَ يُعَرِّضُ بِالْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ قَالَ كَيْفَ الْغُسْلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَقُلْتُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْخُذُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَكُفٍّ وَيُفِيضُهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، ثُمَّ يُفِيضُ عَلَى سَائِرِ جَسَدِهِ. فَقَالَ لِي الْحَسَنُ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ كَثِيرُ الشَّعَرِ. فَقُلْتُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَكْثَرَ مِنْكَ شَعَرًا.

Abu Ja'far reported: Jabir said to me, “Your cousin came to me – meaning al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah – and said, ‘How is the ritual bath (ghusl) for janabah?’ I said, ‘The Prophet ﷺ used to take three handfuls (of water) and pour them over his head, then he would pour (water) over the rest of his body.’ Al-Hasan said to me, ‘I am a man with a lot of hair.’ I said, ‘The Prophet ﷺ had more hair than you.’”
