Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
Facing the qiblah wherever one is

Translation
Al-Bara' ibn Azib reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had prayed towards Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) for sixteen or seventeen months, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved to be turned towards the Kaaba. Then Allah sent down: “We have certainly seen the turning of your face towards the heaven.” So he turned towards the Kaaba. And the foolish among the people – they are the Jews – said, “What has turned them away from their qiblah which they used to face?” “Say: To Allah belong the east and the west; He guides whom He wills to a straight path.” A man prayed with the Prophet ﷺ, then went out after he had prayed. He passed by some people of the Ansar who were in the Asr prayer facing Bayt al-Maqdis, and he said that he testified that he had prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and that he had turned towards the Kaaba. So the people turned until they were facing the Kaaba.

Âzib (r.a.) şöyle rivayet etti: Resûlullah ﷺ on altı veya on yedi ay Beytülmakdis'e doğru namaz kılmıştı.
