Chapter 8 · Prayers (Salat)
Sahih

Praying towards a riding animal, a camel, a tree or a saddle

Translation

Ibn Umar reported from the Prophet ﷺ that he used to place his riding camel crosswise (in front of him) and pray towards it. I (Ubaydullah) said, “What do you think, when the riding camels have got up?” He said, “He would take this saddle, set it straight and pray towards its back-rest – or he said: its rear end – and Ibn Umar used to do the same.”

Translator’s note: The question is put by Ubaydullah, a later narrator, to Nafi', who answers it. It means: when the camels get up and go off, so that one cannot pray towards them.

Other translations

Deutsch

İbn Ömer (r.a.), Nebî'nin ﷺ bineğini (önüne) enine çöktürüp ona doğru namaz kıldığını rivayet etti.
