Sahih

The saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “The religion is sincerity towards Allah, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk.”

Translation

Ziyad ibn Ilaqah reported: I heard Jarir ibn Abdullah speak. On the day al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah died, he stood up, praised Allah and extolled Him, and said, “Hold fast to fearing Allah alone, who has no partner, and to dignity and calm until a (new) governor comes to you, for he will come to you shortly.” Then he said, “Ask pardon for your governor, for he loved to pardon.” Then he said, “To proceed: I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, ‘I pledge allegiance to you upon Islam.’ He made it a condition for me: ‘and sincerity towards every Muslim.’ So I pledged allegiance to him on this. By the Lord of this mosque, I am sincere towards you.” Then he asked for forgiveness and came down (from the pulpit).

Translator’s note: Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah was governor of Kufa.

Abdullah'ı (r.a.) konuşurken işittim: Muğîre b.

Şu'be, Kûfe valisiydi.
