Chapter 10 · Call to Prayers (Adhaan)
Sahih

The virtue of calling the adhan

Translation

Abu Hurairah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When the call to prayer is made, Satan turns his back, breaking wind, so that he does not hear the adhan. When the call is finished, he comes forward, until, when the iqamah for the prayer is called, he turns his back; until, when the iqamah is finished, he comes forward, until he comes between a man and his self, saying, ‘Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such’ – things he had not been remembering – until the man does not know how much he has prayed.”

Translator’s note: At-tathwib here means the iqamah.

Other translations

Deutsch

Ebû Hüreyre (r.a.), Resûlullah'ın ﷺ şöyle buyurduğunu rivayet etti: “Namaz için ezan okununca şeytan, ezanı işitmemek için yellenerek arkasını dönüp kaçar. Ezan bitince geri gelir. Namaz için kamet getirilince yine arkasını döner; kamet bitince yine gelir ve kişi ile nefsi arasına girer: ‘Şunu hatırla, şunu hatırla!’ diyerek onun aklında olmayan şeyleri (hatırlatır). Sonunda adam kaç (rekât) kıldığını bilemez hâle gelir.”

Translator’s note: Burada tesvîb ile kamet kastedilmektedir.
