What one says after the takbir

Translation

Asma bint Abi Bakr reported that the Prophet ﷺ performed the eclipse prayer. He stood and made the standing long; then he bowed and made the bowing long; then he stood and made the standing long; then he bowed and made the bowing long; then he rose; then he prostrated and made the prostration long; then he rose; then he prostrated and made the prostration long. Then he stood and made the standing long; then he bowed and made the bowing long; then he rose and made the standing long; then he bowed and made the bowing long; then he rose and prostrated and made the prostration long; then he rose; then he prostrated and made the prostration long. Then he turned away and said, “Paradise came so close to me that, had I dared, I would have brought you a bunch of its bunches of fruit. And the Fire came so close to me that I said, ‘O my Lord, while I am (still) among them?’ And there was a woman – I think he said – being scratched by a cat. I said, ‘What is the matter with this one?’ They said, ‘She kept it confined until it died of hunger; she neither fed it nor let it go so that it could eat.’” Nafi' said: I think he said, “of the small creatures – or: the little creatures – of the earth.”

Translator’s note: The eclipse prayer. Nafi' (ibn Umar al-Jumahi) and the interjections “I think he said” belong to later narrators; the two expressions at the end are two readings of the same Arabic word. “While I am (still) among them?”: he wondered that the punishment came near while he was still among the people.

Esmâ bint Ebû Bekir (r.a.), Nebî'nin ﷺ küsûf namazı kıldığını rivayet etti.
